The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are fighting back the flames of climate change.
2020 would see the SFRS commit to a program of reuse for all redundant FF+E across their network of stations/offices and other properties.
Sustainability was at the forefront of the SFRS's internal strategy plan for 2020 with the introduction of their new sustainability management team. Expanding on their commitment to Scottish Government Carbon reduction targets laid out in the Climate Change Act (2009) The SFRS prioritised innovation and creative thinking when looking for better ways to do things across their estate.
A group of sustainable leaders in the SFRS management team welcomed Recreate Scotland's approach to circular reuse strategy for management of redundant FF+E across their Scottish estate. With a number of building decommissions planned for 2020/21, the SFRS introduced both internal and external reuse policy amendments to their sustainability framework to adhere to Recreate Certified's carbon reduction benchmarks.
